Frequently asked questions

  • Dosing tinctures can vary depending on individual needs, so it’s important to listen to your body. As a general guideline, you can start with 1-2 dropperfuls (about 30-60 drops) taken 1-3 times per day. However, some people may find that just a few drops are enough to feel the desired effects, while others may need more. I recommend starting with a small dose 3 to 5 drops and gradually working up to what feels best for you.

For each specific tincture, I provide detailed recommendations on how much and how frequently to take it in the product description. These guidelines are based on the intended effects of each blend or single tincture. If you’re new to herbal remedies or have any health concerns, it’s always a good idea to consult with a healthcare provider to determine the right dosage for your needs. Your safety and well-being are my top priority.

  • The frequency of use depends on the type of product and your specific needs. For chronic conditions, tinctures are typically taken 2-3 times a day to maintain consistent support. For acute conditions, you can take a dose every 15-30 minutes until you feel relief. Always listen to your body and adjust the frequency as needed.

  • The longevity of our products depends on the specific item and how it’s stored. To ensure maximum potency, keep all products in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Tinctures typically maintain their peak effectiveness for up to 2 years and longer- use your discretion.

  • The safety of using herbs during pregnancy and breastfeeding can vary, so it’s important to make informed decisions. I encourage you to research the specific actions of the herbs in our tinctures to understand how they might affect your body. For example, some herbs are known to have drying effects and could potentially reduce milk supply, making them less suitable during breastfeeding.

It’s also valuable to explore how different cultures have traditionally used herbs. You’ll often find that herbs contraindicated in Western herbalism are used differently in other cultural practices. This is all to say that you have the power to choose what’s right for you. Take the time to research the herb or herbs you’re interested in consuming by looking up their herbal monographs, understanding how they work in the body, and why they might be contraindicated.

Additionally, I’m working on a product line specifically designed to support pregnant women during and after pregnancy, as well as for breastfeeding, so stay tuned for these offerings!

  • The safety of using herbal products alongside pharmaceutical medications can vary depending on the individual and the specific medications involved. Under each product description, I include any known contraindications to help you make informed decisions. However, it’s crucial to consult with your healthcare provider before combining herbal remedies with any medications. They can help you understand how these herbs may interact with your medications and ensure that what you’re taking is safe and effective for your unique situation.

  • This timeline can vary depending on many factors, including your body’s unique history, diet, mindset, and the specific plants you’re taking. Some herbs, like adaptogens, are designed to be taken long-term, gradually strengthening your body’s resistance to stress through the HPA axis. This requires consistency and patience, as these herbs work with your body over time, rather than offering instant relief like pharmaceuticals.

On the other hand, certain herbs may provide immediate support in acute situations, offering relief right when you need it. It’s important to remember that herbal support is a holistic approach that fosters your body’s natural balance and resilience, often requiring time to fully manifest its benefits.

  • Choosing the right herbal remedy can be nuanced, as each person’s body, sensitivities, and health conditions are unique. It’s challenging to determine the most suitable remedy. If my product descriptions don’t provide the clarity you need to make a decision or for a more personalized approach, consider consulting with a Naturopathic Doctor (ND) who incorporates herbal medicine into their practice or a qualified clinical herbalist. These professionals can provide a thorough assessment of your health and help tailor a treatment plan that addresses your specific needs and goals.

About our herbs

At Autumn Skyes, our herbal medicines begin with fresh, organically grown, or ethically wildcrafted herbs, harvested at the peak of their potency. We are deeply committed to sustainability, and every herb we use is sourced from small, local farms in Washington State, or foraged using ethical practices that protect wild populations and support ecosystem health.

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to taking tinctures—it’s about finding what works best for you. Some people thrive on just a few drops, while others may need more. I encourage you to listen to your body and trust its signals; it will guide you toward the right amount for your well-being.

About our herbs

Our herbal medicines are handcrafted in small batches. For our tinctures, we use a 1:2 fresh herb-to-alcohol ratio, creating a more concentrated, potent medicine that requires smaller doses. Each tincture is allowed to macerate for 6-8 weeks before it’s carefully strained and bottled.

We offer both single herb tinctures and blends. Single herb tinctures allow for a more personalized approach, enabling you to discover how an individual herb supports your unique needs. Blends, on the other hand, combine multiple herbs to create a synergistic effect, addressing multiple conditions at once.

I am fortunate to personally know the farmers who grow these herbs, having witnessed the love, dedication, and respect they pour into their land. Their commitment to the earth and their community goes beyond certified organic standards.
